Work Experience

DXC Technology
IT Infrastructure Analyst (Japanese Speaker)
Selangor, Malaysia May 2024 - Present
Caterpillar Japan
Research & Development Intern
Hyogo, Japan Sep 2023

I served as an intern in the Power Systems Division, with a primary focus on advancing battery electric machine (BEM).

A significant accomplishment during my internship was the creation of a flexible site optimization tool, designed to maximize the total working hours for a fleet of up to eight BEMs. These machines featured varying battery capacities, runtimes and maximum charge rates, making the project both challenging and rewarding. In close collaboration with senior engineers, I identified areas for improvement, fine-tuned algorithms, and enhanced the tool's user interface for optimal usability.

This experience at Caterpillar allowed me to bridge theory and practice, contributing to innovative solutions within the Power Systems Division.

Sharp Corporation
Machine Learning Intern
Chiba, Japan Aug 2023

During my internship at the Communication & Video Standards Division, I collaborated closely with a dedicated team of professionals in shaping industry standards for AI-driven image compression within ISO and ITU frameworks.

I applied state-of-the-art machine learning architectures, including JPEG-AI, Learned Image Compression (LIC), and Transformer-CNN Mixture Blocks (TCM), to improve image encoding and decoding performance. In addition, I conducted thorough evaluations of various machine learning models, with a focus on crucial metrics like rate-distortion curves, decoding speed and computational complexity.

This internship experience allowed me to immerse myself in the dynamic realm of AI-driven image compression and contribute to pioneering standards within the industry.

National Institute of Technology, Ube College
English Language Teaching Assistant (Part-time)
Yamaguchi, Japan May 2019 - Feb 2022

I had the opportunity of mentoring a group of 15 high school students through weekly after-school English tutoring sessions. My approach to teaching was centered on creating an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. To achieve this, I designed and implemented interactive games and quizzes that fostered active participation and made the learning process both fun and effective.

This role not only allowed me to contribute to the growth of young learners but also provided a platform for me to further polish my own English language skills and develop the ability to effectively teach others.

Education

Tokyo Institute of Technology
BE in Mechanical Engineering
Tokyo, Japan Apr 2022 - Mar 2024

The Tokyo Institute of Technology (now known as the Institute of Science Tokyo) is one of the top universities in Japan, recognized globally for its excellence in science, engineering, and technology education.

I conducted a research project titled Intuitive Excavator Control with 6DoF Interface. This project involved designing an excavator simulator using Unity, with programming in both C# and C++. The research also encompassed the collection and analysis of brainwave (EEG) and motion capture data to evaluate the intuitiveness and effectiveness of the novel control system.
